Monitoring Glucose
The most important thing any diabetic can do is to monitor there glucose levels. Fasting Blood Glucose can be taken every eight hour fast and this will measure the glucose level of the blood at that time. Glycosylated Hemoglobin combines with glucose as red blood cells go through the body stream. The more glucose found in the blood stream the greater the hemoglobin, however, short term factors such as food, exercise and stess can affect this value.
A self monitoring diabetic can monitor there glucose level at any time with a monitoring glucose device and the blood can be obtained through a pin prick of the thumb.
